USAID Presents on Circular Economy at APEC Webinar
Recently, USAID Senior Urban and Ocean Plastics Specialist, Clare Romanik, was a featured speaker during an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) webinar on land-based waste management. Malaysia, in collaboration with the Malaysian Green Technology & Climate Change Centre and Ocean Conservancy, invited Ms. Romanik to present how USAID and its Clean Cities, Blue Ocean (CCBO) program is addressing ocean plastic pollution by working with APEC cities to create enabling environments where innovative reduce, reuse, recycle (3R) approaches can thrive. USAID was joined by speakers from: CCBO grantee partner, Green Antz Builders, Inc.; USAID Municipal Waste Recycling Program (MWRP) grantee, the Center for Environment and Community Research; innovation and incubation specialists, SecondMuse; and members of the private sector who each shared their experiences in supporting innovative technologies and business ventures geared towards improved solid waste management in the Asia-Pacific region.
