The Philippines has a unique set of challenges when it comes to urbanization. With the large majority of the population residing in urban centers on the coastlines and a vulnerability to sea rise and extreme weather events, policies and programs must be designed with sustainability and resilience in mind. USAID and the Philippines have been working together for over 40 years to develop programs in this manner and provide a holistic case study for long-term urban interventions.
